Digital Marketing Guru, Becca is back!

Digital Marketing Exec Becca

22 Jun Digital Marketing Guru, Becca is back!

If you follow Geonet on social media, you’ll know that back in September I went on maternity leave and had my little boy, Alfie. Well, my very chunky Alfie is now 9 months old and I’m back!Digital Marketing Exec Becca Returns To Work

Before returning to work, I was feeling pretty apprehensive that I would’ve forgotten everything I knew about digital marketing. I know that might sound daft, because nine months isn’t a great deal of time in the grand scheme of things, but Google’s guidelines are ever-changing so I wasn’t sure if I would be coming back to a different set of rules… and of course there’s baby brain, which is actually a real thing! However, two weeks in I’m pleasantly surprised with myself and how quickly I’m getting back into the swing of work life. In some ways it’s like I’ve never been away.

What’s new at Geonet?

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks since I joined the Geobots again, but hectic is good! The marketing department is continuing to grow and thrive, and back in January the team gained an extra pair of hands with the appointment of our Digital Marketing Apprentice, Scott. Scott wasn’t a total stranger though, as we had met during drop-in days, which gave me the opportunity to catch up with the team and keep myself in the loop.

All aboard the PPC train!

We also have lots of new digital marketing clients, particularly businesses with big PPC campaigns! Pay Per Click is a service that we’ve always offered, but now we’re really branching out and making it one of our core digital marketing services. In just a few short months Geonet will be a Google Certified company, which is seriously exciting!

Google Fred Update

Google Fred was rolled out back in March, which was a whole new ball game, because unlike Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird and all of the other exotic Google updates, Fred wasn’t named after a wild animal. This left me wondering, why? What is different about Fred? Why is Fred named after a human and not an animal? Am I over thinking this? Is the name totally insignificant? Are they just trying to throw us off the scent?

Alfie the first Geonet Baby

All of my questions and more were answered in this blog! If you’ve been left wondering, ‘WHO ON EARTH IS FRED?’, well here you can read everything we know about Google Fred.

Marketer by day, mama by night!

Now I consider myself to have two jobs – Marketer and Mummy. Both of which are rewarding in completely different ways. Although I’m naturally missing Alfie, I’m loving being back at work for many reasons. Not only am I actually using my brain for something other than making up silly songs about bath time, but I’m back doing what I love – helping make other businesses an online success!
