Brief
Geo-net was to take the existing site, which was suffering performance problems and was frequently unavailable, and re-engineer it to produce a more stable solution. The agents and properties currently held on the system were to be retained and existing services available to agents maintained, with new services to be added.
Solution
The new site was to developed using IMPRES and a rigorous database schema plotted out to allow the old data to be transferred into a more robust format.
An XML feed was created, allowing agents to upload their properties automatically to the PropRT website when they updated their own. As the site was a redevelopment of an existing system the XML feed had to remain compatible with the old system to prevent update failures.
A white label version of the site was also created to allow PropRT agents who did not already have a property search feature or database of properties of their own on their website to display them.
Outcome
PropRT were pleased with the outcome of the development and the site continues to be expanded, with continual refinements to the SEO practices and further features for both users and agents added at intervals.
