This article is about blogging consistently and staying on topic, to increase the amount of website visitors.
Consistent blog updates can help you rapidly grow the size of a website, without cluttering up your navigation menus. From increased search engine traffic, to showing your authority on a topic, and many other benefits, blogging should be part of the majority of websites online today. However that being said, it is easy for people to lose sight of their blog objectives, often allowing themselves to go off course, in an attempt to grow the traffic. It is essential that you have a clear road-map of where you want your blogging to lead to, and how you plan on accomplishing that ambition. Having a clear objective or set of goals, will help you stay focused.
Let me provide you with an example where people can trip up. For a while I’ve been following a successful business person’s blog. Their content is always insightful and relevant to a specific topic. Whilst I’ve un-subscribed from many other blogs in recent times, I've stayed subscribed to their blog, and look forward to their posts. The author creates a mixture of one-off articles and series, demonstrates through examples, rather than just talk and engages with their followers. All good, right?
Unfortunately recently they stepped outside of the main topic they blog about, without research and what appeared to be a semi-rant on another person and topic. This hopefully temporary oversight, has weakened their standing in my eyes. However we are human after all, and it won’t stop me from staying subscribed for a while at least, but no-doubt others most of un-subscribed.
So when you are blogging on a topic or range of topics, it is important that you maintain focus and stick to your objectives. When something occurs that gets on your nerves, it is easy to use your blog as a platform for a rant, to have a dig, to try and prove a point, but when in doubt don't write, else stick the article in draft for another day. It is important you are consistent and built a blog that shows your authority on a topic, don't allow yourself to lose focus, as it probably will hit your visitor statistics in a negative way, and possibly wash away months of hard work overnight. Too many bloggers both commercial and personal blogs, lose focus for one reason or another, don't allow yourself to go off message.
Stay on topic and be consistent could improve your website statistics.
Consistent blogging will hopefully generating subscribers, engagement and naturally improved visitor statistics. When the visitor statistics are low (especially in the early days) it is hard to see the progress, and stay on-course, but commitment to a plan is important and rather than chasing a quick result with some dubious SEO techniques, an authority blog can emerge and bring in long-tail keyword traffic in big numbers in the future, if you grew your blog correctly.
Obviously if you are running a business site, which sells products or services, you then want to try and convert as many people as possible in customers. So making sure you the blog is well integrated into the main website, contains relevant links at key locations on blog posts is important, as are other factors such as design and development of your blog.
Create a plan, be consistent and stay focused, even when you are busy or tired. If you are planning a trip, schedule some blog posts, for the time whilst you are away. If you are busy all next week, write a batch of articles, and keep one or two in draft format ready for a busy period. Sure there is a lot more to successful blogging that what i’ve mentioned above, but without the commitment, focus and passion your blog will likely go nowhere.
